Granada Airport
Guide To Granada AirportGranada is an extremely busy airport which handled almost 900,000 passengers last year, and this is set to increase as in the last 12 months there has been the introduction of direct flights from the UK by RyanAir and Monarch Airlines. Because this is such a historic area to explore and offers quick and easy access to mainland Spain and the Sierra Nevada ski resort (which is only about a 40 minute drive away), it is preferable to have your own transport to get around. There are several good car hire companies at the airport allowing you to book a car before your journey so it will be waiting when you arrive.
Granada Airport terminal building is on one level with two arrival areas to the left, departures to your right, eleven check in desks, three boarding gates and a VIP lounge. The baggage reclaim area on the ground floor leads into the arrivals hall where there are toilets and an ATM. You will also find the desks of various car hire companies here where you need to check in to pick up your car.
There is a duty free shop, several other retail outlets selling gifts and souvenirs, a bar/cafeteria and a good sized seating area in the departure lounge.
If you decide to widen your flight options and arrive at Malaga Airport, tour around the area, and then depart from Barcelona (or vice versa), you can arrange car hire from any of these airports. It is easy to make a booking either online, by fax or telephone.
