Guide To Gibraltar AirportThe airport at Gibraltar is two kilometres from the town centre adjacent to the frontier with Spain. If you visiting Spain, it is recommended that you arrange car hire on the Spanish side of the border in La Linea.
The airport is operated by the British Royal Air Force and the runway crosses the border so everything comes to a halt when a plane is landing or taking off. Because Gibraltar is a small airport passengers with boarding gates directly on to the tarmac. As you come in to land here if it is during daylight hours you will get some magnificent views of the Rock. There is a café on the first floor of the airport terminal which has an open air roof terrace where friends and relatives can greet or wave goodbye to passengers.
If is preferable to arrange your car hire prior to your trip so that the vehicle will be ready and waiting for you on arrival.
